21 JEWELS

The world twirls around memory

like a model of the old rotations

in time where eight becomes nine

by a steel spring tempered with beryllium

Now trees are coming round again

the limbs sprouting flowers

repetition reassuring as pendulums

though a more comprehensive view

is still obscured by childhood

GALAXY

A book lay before me black & glossy

but splattered with powder

white and fine so I brushed it off

It did not brush It was the Milky Way

the powdery way the Wakah Chan

The age of miniaturization had shrunk

half the galaxy to a book cover

In amazement my pockets ate my hands

SYNCHRONICITY

Jet dragging a streak of erasure

A sentiment rewritten below by a hognose

slick in the underbrush

A needle racing through waves of fabric

silver like a fish

An osprey followed aft by its shadow
